A NEW WEBSITE FOR PMR
Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to volunteer our services at Spencer’s Retreat, a nonprofit organisation located in Berkswell, thanks to an invitation from Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). Working alongside other amazing contractors, our team was honoured to contribute to upgrading the facilities at this special place.
For those unfamiliar with Spencer’s Retreat, the organisation provides a safe, inclusive environment for families with children who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), as well as those facing mental health challenges. It’s more than just a retreat—it’s a sanctuary where families can experience a sense of normalcy, joy, and support in a peaceful setting. Knowing the vital role they play for so many families made this project especially meaningful to us.
PMR’s team, which included Matt, Callum, and Tom, was onsite to tackle a few key tasks that would help improve accessibility and functionality. The team installed drainage for new disabled toilets, ensuring these important facilities would be fully operational for all visitors. Additionally, they installed access ramps, which are crucial for families who use wheelchairs or have mobility needs, and also set up land drains to prevent future flooding issues. These upgrades are small but essential changes that will make a big difference in the comfort and safety of Spencer’s Retreat visitors.
The project was a true team effort. The site buzzed with activity as everyone worked together, combining their skills to ensure the job was completed smoothly and efficiently. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this was more than just another job—it was about making a real, positive impact on the community.
According to feedback from Matt, Callum, and Tom, the team at Spencer’s Retreat was incredibly welcoming, making the day even more enjoyable. In fact, they were treated to endless cups of tea and a well-deserved meal of fish and chips, which certainly kept spirits high! It’s always rewarding to be appreciated, especially when working on such a meaningful project.
We’re incredibly proud of our team’s contribution and are grateful for the opportunity to support Spencer’s Retreat. Knowing that our work will help families with SEND and those facing mental health difficulties makes the effort all the more rewarding. The new and improved facilities are just a small part of the retreat’s ongoing mission to create a space where families can feel safe, supported, and cared for.
A huge thank you to JLR for inviting us to be a part of this project, and to everyone involved for their hard work and dedication. We hope the families at Spencer’s Retreat enjoy the new facilities for many years to come!
Great work, team PMR!
